This project was very cool. I was very satisfied at how well of a project we did considering that we really had no idea what we were supposed to be doing in the beginning. Even though Nerd Squirt is kind of corny, we all made an effort to do a good job on the project.

I think that if it were up to me, I would have picked a new product to do the website and advertising on. It would have been something that you could actually do or use, not just water in a bottle with black and white paper that said Nerd Squirt on the side.  The website would be a little bit better too, but since I had really no idea what Nerd Squirt was actually like, I had to make up some stuff and some of it didn’t make any sense.

Some of the weaker things were ideas for our product. We struggled at first because some of us didn’t want to have Nerd Squirt, we wanted to bake and make food. Also, we needed more ideas for our advertising back ground. We wanted it to be super sweet but since people were going from one person to another, we had to use the bathroom.

Once we had finally picked a product, we were ready to hit the road. We gave people certain jobs that they needed to do inorder for the assignment to be completed on time. Also, everyone pulled their own weight which was very helpful. No one refused to do anything and sinse we needed all the people we could get, everyone just went with it.

I am good with it. I think the hardest part about the grading is letting the students evaluate because most people grade it on what they want on it, not what should be on it. Also, some of the directions were a little confusing, but when we got the sheet back with the comments, we realized what everything meant and what we needed to do. I think the best thing about the grading is that we have time to make adjustments on the website so we will get a better grade.

We could have all communicated more on the ideas we had and then decided what to do and how to do it. Some people came up with all the ideas and wouldn’t let anyone else have an idea about what we should produce. The website could have been better in the ways of color choices and text. We really had no idea what a nerd saw in terms of colors or what colors would have been picked if a nerd really was creating the website and the product.

Well, this project might have gone better if there was more than one job that had to do with a computer. I mean like, everyone in the group, all they had to do was come up with ideas for products and how we should make the commercial, while one other person could actually make the website. Only one person helped with the website, other than the person who actually had access to the website making. I think we did good though.

Just like with any other group project, it is HARD! Everyone wants to do something different and no one can agree on anything. But, it gets better over time. It would help though, if people stayed on task and didn’t go to games or other websites when there was still stuff to be done. However, even though it is hard and a pain, it helps in the long run, to be able to work with people who have different thoughts. It questions the way you think about things and gives you and the other person a different way of thinking.

Sincerely,

Ellen

Blog Post 5-Advertising

Advertising. Where do I even begin? Well, to start off, it is hard. You have to appeal to so many different people at the same time and it gets pretty difficult after a while. Logos, colors, and even the product. It is hard to decided what the product should be because everyone wants something different.

Even when you are in a group of future CEO’s and bosses, everyone has their own opinion and no ones else’s matters. So far, our product is still nerd squirt but we are deciding what color it should be and what exactly it is supposed to do for the consumer if they use it. It is nice to know that now since we are all kind of agreeing on nerd squirt, we can make our advertisment better and more interesting and enticing to the public.

The web was helpful because we had to make sure no one else had develped something called nerd squirt and also your blog helped us to decided how to design our website. Looking at other websites helped us to learn what we could do to attract people to our site and learn more about our product.

Probably, not. I doubt anyone would end up buying something so unrealistic. Afterall, how could a spray change your personality in a matter of 5 seconds? It’s just not realistic.

So far, everyone has helped even though most of them have contributed very little, but it still helps so have some constructive critism. With older and more experienced kids in our group, we are able to design a product that people will use because of the world we live in today.

Blog Post #4: NOT JAPAN!

March 11: Around 2:46 pm a huge 8.9/9.0 earthquake hit the Pacific Ocean near the Northeastern edge of Japan. Damages included blakcouts, fires, and tsunami. These disasters ended up being more money that when Hurricane Katrina hit in the Southern United States. Nearly 3,400 people were confirmed dead, although the losses are still being tallied. 7,000 are missing and half a million are in shelters due to home loses and radiation levels that continue to rise. Plus, with everything happening and no one with money, only 14-17% of residences have earthquake insurance.

Many people are without power mainly due to the shutdown and setruction of the three main nuclear power plants. The loss of being able to cool, explosoins erupt. The Japanese nuclear experts have been trying to contain the fires, explosions, and radiation levels . There has been an evacuation of everyone within a 12-mile radius. But, everyone within a 20-mile radius has gotten ill and been sent to the hospital.

Homes and villiages have been swept away by the massive waves of the tsunami. Water has been contaminated and in some towns, the water has completely gone. Cars and homes were swept away and many people who were not crushed were drowned or went missing in the tsunami part of the disaster. Not only was Japan just hit harder than heck, but it also just started to recover from a horrible world war. However, the Japanese have excepted the horrors they are going through and it is going to take a lot to help them overcome their past problems, and also, to get them through the future.
